Homeopathic Medicine
Homeopathy isn't that familiar to folks in North America but according to the World Health Organization, it ranks second as the most common form of healing in the world. It's actually very popular in the UK and Europe and apparently has been used there for over a century. I've used it successfully in battling the flu and I found it's especially good at reducing allergies. I've also used homeopathic remedies on my dog and that's been very helpful.
You can find homeopathic remedies at speciality and health food shops. However, the best way to go about it is to consult a trained homeopath. He or she will choose a remedy that is uniquely suited to you. You see the remedies in the shops are actually several remedies all rolled into one. They take the most common remedies used for a particular problem and hope this shot gun approach hits its mark. And, sometimes it does.
But if you're hoping to tackle such things as hypertension, allergies, asthma, autoimmune problems etc. I'd strongly recommend consulting a specialist. To learn more about homeopathy, here are a few resources.
