Cinema therapy offers a unique way of healing and it's a great complement to your therapy. I have personally used films to lighten my mood, to bring awareness to things I have a hard time seeing and as a way to help me cry when I'm feeling blocked. Films are a powerful catalyst. (There's gold in them there hills!)
Brigit Wolz Ph. D., psychotherapist and hypnotherapist, created one of the first online sites that focused on cinema therapy. And, she did a fabulous job. It's a wonderful site full of resources on how cinema therapy works, information on choosing a movie based on your mood and guidelines for watching movies. She also teaches online courses for professionals. Well worth the visit.
This is such a cool idea for a site. Click the issue or mood such as secrets, guilt, hope, co-dependency etc. and Dr. Brian Johnson will recommend a film that explores it in more depth.
